Lately I've been perusing the web looking for information related to weight estimation. I came upon a really cool site that has some good info for those of us that need to lose weight. I did have a bit on an issue with one of the ways they were calculating percent body fat, though. You can see this great site and my comments about this issue here: Real Weight Loss Science part 3
I think I may add a %BF calculator to my ideal weight calculator pretty soon. I also found a site listing weight tables from people like the US Army and USDA. I may also convert these to formulas and add those calculations to the calculator.

Anne, I currently ride a Honda VTX.
Rachelle, Thanks for posting the links. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out what you were referring to at the first site. On the second one, I tried the lean body mass calculator, but it gave me screwy results. It told me my LBM was 163, which is about right, but it also told me that my ideal weight with 15% body fat would be 140, an obvious mistake! This is why I'm working on my own calculator, I want one I know is right!
Hey Detector,
Just found your blog. That was a great calculator. Takes more math than what i ahve to do that. I can run the calculation based on my formulae but putting it into a program is beyond me.
The one comment I have it that BMI calculations only work so far. For the athlete with low body fat they are more than useless. Ronnie Coleman the 8 time Mr Olympia weighed in at 300+ and about low body fat of around <6% would have a BMI score that put him in the severely obese column.
The same goes in general for many athletes. Scales work when your body fat % is high but there comes a point where you need to rely on the tale of the tape and calipers to determine how healthy you are.
Great Blog. I am going to add a link to it from mine.
